Linnaeus

Carl Linnaeus devoted his life to the study and classification of organisms. When I sit down to make my work I find myself continually drawn to the enchanting and mysterious biology of the sea. The forms that my hands and mind create are heavily rooted in the aesthetics of evolution. These three vessels began as flat discs of metal and through the forming processes of raising, chasing and repousee they became something very different. I allow them to evolve naturally and they are as mysterious to their maker as they are to the viewer. I name this series Linnaeus because the work defies scientific classification.
